Language, Reading and the Brain

Instructors:

Amount of frontal teaching:

16 hours

ECTS:

4

The course offers an introduction to how the brain deals with language and reading. It does so by focusing on the relationship between form and meaning, notably described by linguistic morphology. The approach is primarily experimental, although we will strive to connect brain data with theoretical linguistics. We will cover both classic approaches based on factorial experiments and box–and–arrow models; and more quantitative approaches based on information theory and other types of mathematical formulation.
